Along the western Istrian coast there are several groups of islands, among which the most interesting, the largest and most developed Brijuni group of 14 islands and islets area 7.4 km2. The current boundaries of the National Park established 1999th include the land and surrounding sea from the seabed and the total area of 33.9 km2. Length of coastline of the island is 46.8 kilometers. Of this area Veliki Brijun (25.9 km) and Mali Brijun (8.3 km).
