The Chemical Brothers to headline Moon & Rocks Festival 2010 in Novalja
The British electronic duo, The Chemical Brothers, who have just released their seventh studio album named Further, will perform on August 22ndin Novalja, Pag Island - Croatia’s premier party destination on the seaside - as part of the Moon & Rocks Festival 2010. Tickets will go on sale this Saturday, June 19th.
Moon & Rocks Festival is a brand which with its name will this year alone gather some of the most acclaimed electronic acts and world-class djs in its first edition. The 2010 music experience will be held on 22nd August 2010 at Novalja Stadium and it is a great pleasure to announce that after a busy concert tour, The Chemical Brothers will also perform at the Croatian seaside, as part of a very limited number of summer festivals. Their live set will feature the album synchronized with the famous visuals from Adam Smith aka Flat Nose George. Their live shows have never been anything less than staggering and this time around with the promise of something very special up their collective sleeve it’s bound to be one of their most incredible shows ever! The festival program will be additionally extended with internationally renowned Djs.
The Moon & Rocks Festival 2010 will elevate the music experience of Pag Island to the next level, by creating the first electronic live experience of this scale to have ever been produced on the island and will be held under the sponsorship of Becks as a result of a collaboration between Neki Daniels Media and ecletric.com.
The Island of Pag with the towns of Novalja and Zrce have become one of the most amazing summer party destinations around the Mediterranean Sea, being frequently referred to as the “eastern Ibiza” where thousands of young people gather for their holidays in search of its extensive clubbing programs and the promise of one of Europe’s best electronic dance scenes. The island of Pag has with its beaches so become a signature mark for the perfect party destination and unique summer experience.
About The Chemical Brothers and the album ‘Further’
Further is The Chemical Brothers’ seventh studio album, an eight track masterpiece of modern psychedelia. Effortlessly fusing free from analogue wig-outs to juggernaut dance-floor dynamics on the album’s first single, Escape Velocity – arguably the most unrelenting 12 minutes of music ever to pick up serious national radio support in the UK - the record sees Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons explore the boundless possibilities of their sound. Taking a trip through four decades of electronic noise, Tom & Ed have taken the template set up with their occasional Electronic Battle Weapon releases and allowed them to mutate gloriously into an entire album. Vocal samples are woven through tracks to create a record that ebbs and flows like one of the band’s legendary live sets. Here, the West Coast power pop harmonies of Dissolve sit beside German Motorik rhythms of K+D+B while Valentines-esque sonic manipulations plane across the top of early house basslines (Swoon). Further is the culmination of nearly two decades of psychedelic exploration, an immersive collection that sees The Chemical Brothers at their least-restrained and most-melodic best.
Facts and figures about the success of The Chemical Brothers over the seventeen years since the release of their first single (Song To The Siren) come as thick as the Yellow Pages when collected together. To highlight just a handful - millions of copies sold of six studio albums, the last five of which were consecutively number 1 in the UK. Played to the biggest crowd ever seen at Glastonbury’s 30th anniversary festival back in 2000 before the fence went up. Multiple Grammy awards won over the length of their career. The first band to play at London’s Olympia (chosen as it was the location for the cover shot on the band’s Surrender album) in over a decade. Vocal collaborations from nearly two dozen handpicked artists, from Noel Gallagher to Beth Orton, The Flaming Lips to Midlake, Q-Tip to the Magic Numbers.
Further’s eight tracks will come accompanied by corresponding visuals made exclusively for this release (and subsequent live shows). It’s the band’s first proper partnership with their long-time visuals collaborators Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall. Now as respected TV and film director (recently having completed the first episode of the current series of Doctor Who) Adam – aka Flat Nose George - has been.
