The town of Hvar is a unique fusion of luxurious Mediterranean nature, rich cultural and historical heritage, and mundane, tourist present. His name derives from the Greek name Pharos for the island and town, which stood where today is Old city.

Any means of transportation traveling to the town of Hvar, in any case, you will experience a romantic cruise to the island of Hvar. When you see Hvar and start to enjoy its benefits, you'll know that your trip is worth it.

 

How to arrive in Hvar

Boat- Hvar is connected with ships mainland by lines: Split - Stari Grad (people and cars), Drvenik - Sućuraj (people and cars), Split - Hvar (only people) Fast-ship connection Split-Hvar/Hvar-Split: daily, regularly (only people) Ferry lines Split-Stari Grad / Stari Grad-Split: daily, regularly (people and cars) Ferry connection: Drvenik daily, regularly (people and cars)
In the summer ferry connections with islands are intensified, and there are also catamarans.

Airplane- Split airport is the closest zo island of Hvar. At the airport there is a bus to Split harbor.

Car- There are two ferry ports on the island of Hvar, Stari Grad and Sucuraj. Stari grad port is connected with Split and is closer to Hvar (20 km), a ride to Hvar town takes about ten minutes, the road passes through the beautiful south side of the island. Port in Sucuraj is connected to Drvenik on the mainland and it is located on the other side of the island. But this connection saves time to tourists coming from Dubrovnik, Mostar, Sarajevo, etc.

Bus- Nearest bus station in Split is in ferry port. Split has excellent bus connections to all bus routes. Bus lines exist on the island, so that the bus connections with the town of Hvar, Stari Grad and Jelsa daily and regularly, and tickets will be made on the bus.

Train- Croatia has direct connections with Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Serbia and Montenegro, and indirect connections with almost all European countries. The closest train station to Hvar is in Split. This station is right next to the bus station and ferry port.

Nautical Tourism

Anchorages, which offers the town of Hvar are anchorage in the port of Hvar, and the ACI marina Palmizana on Pakleni islands. Fortress Fortica (Spanjola) was built on a hill above the old part of the mid-16th century.

Hvar's cathedral, which together with the Bishop's palace closes the eastern side of the largest square in Dalmatia - Trg Sv. Stephen.

Hvar theater one of the first municipal theaters in Europe was founded 1612.

The Franciscan monastery who was founded 1461.

Climate of the island of Hvar

The island is characterized by mild winters, warm summers and large insolation. Summer on the island of Hvar are very dry, warm and long, and refreshments during the day and night, bringing in summer winds mistral and Tramontana. While winter in Hvar are mild and short.
