What to see on island Mali Losinj

On the island of Losinj, there are 9 settlements: Belej, Cunski, Mali Losinj, Nerezine, Osor, Punta Krizaa, Sv. Jakov, Ustrine and Veli Losinj.

City Cunski is located 8 km from Mali Losinj. A small town built on a hill where the residents for many years are engaged in farming and fishing. There is olive mill "Torac" built in the 1897th year. In Cunski is a home for spiritual encounters Bethany, which is a meeting place for believers around the world.

Mali Losinj is the largest settlement on the island. Located in Augusta Bay and has 7,000 inhabitants. In Mali Losinj are many vile from Austrian aristocrats, churches from various times, Calvary (14 chapels in the series), the island fragrant gardens, Forest Park Cikat and museum of art collection.

Nerezine are located at the foot of the hill Osorscica. In the center is the tower of the Franciscan church and monastery from the 15th century. Nearby is a massive fortress called the castle that was home to a rich Osor patrician family in the 15th century. The fort was built to defend the possession of pirates. Worth visiting is the village from the 10th century called Veli and Mali Trzic, Vela Cave archaeological site from the Middle Paleolithic, about 10,000 years old.

Osor is a place where are most connected Losinj and Cres. The foundations of city walls from the IX. centuries before Christ, testify of the ancient past of this city. Osor is actually open-air museum where you can visit the fort, an early Christian basilica, the city museum, beautiful gardens and parks, ancient villas, Renaissance portals and monastery.

Punta Kriza is a real national park rich in flora and fauna. Punta Kriza has beautiful bays and beaches and is a heaven for anyone who loves the sea, sunbathing and swimming. In city is a church of Sts. Anthony from 15 century.

St. Jakov is the smallest settlement on the island. In the village is the Romanesque church of Sts. Jakov with the apse from the 1624th and the parish church of Sts. Mary from the 19th century. On the altar there is a picture from the 19th century depicting Our Lady of the Rosary with St.. Dominic,  St. Catherine of Siena and St. Jakov.

Ustrine are located on the western part of the island Losinj. There are remains of a Roman settlement and remains of Roman villas and ceramics. There is also the Romanesque church of St. Martin.

Veli Losinj is located in a narrow bay on the southeast side of the island Losinj. In the village you can visit the church of Our Lady of the Angels from the 1510th, The Church of St. John the Baptist from the 1755th, The Church of St. Nicholas from the 14th century, church of St. Petra from 1666., The parish church Anthony the Abbot from the 1774th , the parish court of St.. Joseph from 1855, The health resort, tower from the 15th century, a large number of palace from the 18th century, the fish market from 1898. and many villas from the 18th and 19 century.
