Makarska is a coastal city of Split-Dalmatia County, located at the foot of mountain Biokovo. Makarska is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Croatian coast, attractive for its nature and climate, rich in tourist attractions and friendly hosts. Sandy beaches are long almost 2 km.

History about Makarska
The first mention of the ancient settlement Inariona, as well as stations on the coastal road Salon-Narona makes tabula Peutigeriana in the first half of the 4th century. The acts of Salonitan Parliament since 4 May 533rd says Mucurum is as a place where the diocese was established. In 7th century village is mentioned as Aronia id est Mucru. During the Middle Ages County Mokro is a part od Neretvan principality and becomes a respectable naval force. Venetian Doge Peter kandijan coming under Mucules 18th September 887 was defeated in the great naval battle. In the following centuries, the struggle for power, they alternated Bribir princes, rulers of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary-Croatian kings and Venice. Makarska under the present name was first mentioned in year 1502. In the era of Ottoman rule was the center of Makarska Coast district, fortress with three towers. Makarska is annexed to the Republic of Venice 1684th year. Under 100 years rule of the Venetian lion emerged basis on the future of the city. The next hundred years, during the French and Austrian rule, the city experienced its cultural and economic rise.
