Šibenik is located almost in the middle of the Croatian Adriatic coast, in the picturesque, indented bay of the river Krka, one of the most beautiful Croatian karst river.
Sibenik - Knin County covers an area of 1860 km2 and consists of the island and coastal parts, and the hinterland. Island part of Sibenik - Knin County consists of 242 islands and sea cliffs.
In the coastal part of the region's climate is typically Mediterranean and summer temperatures are relatively high. Along the coast are moderate or mild winters.

History about Šibenik
Sibenik was first mentioned in 1066 in the document of the most important rulers of the Croatian state - King Petar Kresimir IV. Sibenik, as well as autochthonous Croatian town gets status of the city in 1290th when is established the Sibenik diocese.
Sibenik Cathedral of St. Jakov was built more than a hundred years. The Cathedral is entirely built of stone, without using any other material.
In the 15th and 16 c. Sibenik is one of the most important Croatian humanist and Renaissance Center. In this time worked Juraj Sizgoric, Antun i Faust Vrancic,Petar Divnic i Ivan Polikarp Severitan, musicians Ivan Sibencanin, Julije Skjavetic and Ivan Lukacic, a historian Dinko Zavorovic, painters Nikola Vladanov and Juraj Aulinović, graphic Martin Kolunic Rota, Horacije Fortezza and Natal Bonifacij and many sculptors and builders of the circle around Juraj Matejev Dalmatian.
Scientist and visionary, lexicographer and storyteller, philosopher and theologian, Faust Vrancic most important is the Croatian Renaissance personality. The writer of the first Croatian dictionary, the author of the famous book of projects and inventions Machinae novae (new machines). Among the many highlights are drawing ideas homo volans (flying man), the first printed version parachute flight in history. Church and Monastery of St. Frane, 14th century, the first Croatian national shrine of st. Nikola Tavic, for centuries a significant church and cultural focus.
The monastery keeps a collection of more than 150 inkonabula and as many valuable manuscripts of the Code, including the famous prayer of Sibenik, the first Croatian poetic text written in Latin.
