South Dalmatia
Southern Dalmatia is the area south of the river Neretva, Peljesac peninsula up to the Dubrovnik area which borders with Montenegro.
The most famous city of the south Dalmatia is city Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik is a famous tourist destination in Croatia and from 1979. was included on UNESCO's World Heritage list.
Cities of Southern Dalmatia are: Metkovic, Ploce, Janjina, Ston, Trpanj, Orebic, Slano, Trsteno, Zaton, Dubrovnik, Konavle, Kupari and Cavtat
Islands of Southern Dalmatia are: Island Korcula, Lastovo, Mljet, Sipan and peninsula Peljesac.
A large part of the island Mljet is also a national park for its natural beauty, beaches, fishing and lobster grounds as well as numerous cultural and historical monuments.
In addition to Dubrovnik, a famous tourist places for vacation is the town Cavtat, which is located about twenty kilometers from Dubrovnik. Cavtat is known for its large number of accommodations, beautiful beaches and excellent cuisine.
Peljesac peninsula is the biggest Croatian peninsula after Istria. Ston and Orebic are the most famous tourist spots of the peninsula Peljesac.
